Here’s a little secret- I’m not really into telling people what to wear for their photo session. It feels less than authentic and more manufactured than I’d like for truly capturing my client’s personality. Believe me, I know first hand what it’s like to have your own style be a part of your identity, plus, who wants to look like everyone else in their photos? Now that being said, in my experience as a photographer, specifically a beach photographer, I’ve seen a lot of different color/style combinations, and I can tell you, some just work better together, in a way that is not distracting in the photos. The beach is light and bright (even when it’s cloudy) and neutral or light colored clothes truly match the setting best. Also, did you know that editing overly bright and flourescent colors can look oversaturated and unnatural in images? When clients book a session with me, I offer them a styling service at no cost that helps them choose clothing that works best for your family. You pick some color combos that you like and just like that, it lays out tons of different options to best suit your taste and to coordinate with the rest of the family. I’m also here for you to bounce ideas off of! So while I’m not here to tell you what to wear, I’m defintely here to help steer you in the right direction when you feel lost and confused about what to wear for your beach photo session1
THE MIZZERS | WILMINGTON NC NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER
I got to capture the newest addition to this amazing family. I couldn’t love in-home newborn sessions any more than I do- they’re relaxed, comfortable, and natural- a win-win when bringing a new baby home.
The Chiricos | Wilmington Family Photographer
This fall has been a lot. A lot of newness, but also a lot of personal struggle. But thinking back to my time with this family brings me a sense of gratitude and hope amongst the chaos that surrounded me during that time. Our first session was scheduled for golden hour on a September weekend with no chance of rain in the forecast. When I arrived, the skies opened up and our plans were quickly changed. We rescheduled for later that month in their neighborhood park and were greeted by the most beautiful weather and gorgeous sunset. We made art in photographs of them being their truest selves and I will forever be grateful to them for giving me the opportunity to be a small part of their amazing lives.
Janky Family | Oak Island Family Photographer
Getting our dear friends to the beach took a couple of reschedules due to so many unforeseen circumstances, but I’m so glad we were able to spend a few days together at our home amongst the chaos. The Point on the west end of Oak Island is simply one of my favorite places- the dunes, the beach, the beauty.
We spent a brisk evening on the beach, soaking up the last rays of the day, and having the best time creating magic.
McKean Family | Wilmington Family Photographer
We had another beautiful session with the McKean family this fall. I’ve had the pleasure of watching their family grow from 3-4 just after their move from up north and now recently seeing the kids turn into little people with glorious personalities. Mom & Dad are the most beautiful gentle parents, and I always leave with a new outlook on how to raise my own kids. Grateful to know people who genuinely help shape the lives of others in such positive ways, even if they don’t know they’re doing it.
